What actually happens before your home hits the road

Once your new home is built at our Cambridge facility, it doesn’t just get loaded onto a truck and driven off. Getting a fully built house from our yard to your section is a meticulously coordinated process involving council permits, route planning, and specialist transport teams.

Before transport day, our team maps out the full journey, checking bridge clearances, powerlines, narrow rural roads, and any council requirements along the way. On the day itself, an escort vehicle follows behind with its “House Ahead” sign, giving other road users plenty of notice as the house makes its way to its new site.

Why building off-site makes this possible

This process is only possible because of how transportable homes are built in the first place. Rather than constructing on your property from day one, we build your home at our facility in a controlled environment, largely protected from the weather delays, site access issues and subcontractor scheduling problems that can slow down a standard on-site build.

That means by the time your home is ready for its journey down the highway, it’s already largely complete, finished sooner, and to a consistent standard, before it even reaches your property.

What this Means for you on moving day

For most of our clients, transport day is one of the most exciting parts of the whole process. Rather than waiting months to watch a house slowly take shape on-site, you’re able to see your finished home arrive largely complete, ready to be positioned and connected on your section.

We handle the practical side of the day, from timing the journey around traffic and road conditions to coordinating with council where required, so there’s very little for you to manage yourself. Once the home arrives, our team takes care of positioning it on its foundation and completing any final connections needed to make it liveable, so you can move from watching your house arrive down the road to settling into it as quickly as possible.

It’s worth noting that every journey looks a little different. A home travelling a short distance across town involves far less planning than one heading several hours away to a rural property, and our team adjusts the approach accordingly to suit the size of the home and the route involved.
