Branderson Homes Construction yard

All our transportable homes are built at our Cambridge-based construction yard in purpose built sheds. The sheds offer year round weather protection to ensure minimum construction disruptions as well as protecting materials against warping, shrinkage and swelling.

Our facilities include our own joinery shop giving us the ability to do everything from hanging our own doors to building kitchens for our homes.

From our location – just off the Cambridge bypass motorway – we have easy access for loading completed homes onto trucks for transporting to destination. We cover most of the North Island delivering from North of Auckland to Wellington with a lot of our transportable homes going to Taranaki, central Hawkes Bay and surrounding districts.

What are transportable homes?

These are homes that are specifically built to be transported on a truck from our workshops to the destination site. The only compromise on the build of the home is its shape – we have to build the home to either the maximum width that is legally allowed on the road, or that will fit down the roads on the route to the site.

One big tree on the route can be a real pain — that’s why we check the route before we commit to delivering your new home.

Why are pre-fabricated houses so popular?

Convenience and cost — a great, stress-free solution when you can’t get a local builder for your home build project, or if a local builder is charging “moonbeams”!

Are prefab homes cheaper than building?

The build quality of our homes is the same across the range of homes we build — site built homes or transportable.

The “cost effectiveness” of our transportable houses comes into play when trying to build in remote areas or where the cost of building is very high.

Our costs are well managed and we have the efficiency of being able to build in our sheds without suffering any weather issues.

How long does it take to build a transportable home?

The build time for our homes is around 4 months (size of home dependant). Other factors that may come into consideration is the time it take local councils to process the Building Consent documentation.

How much does a transportable house cost?

We have various price lists for our homes based on the build size and transport costs.

While the price of a specific house doesn’t vary, variable costs are foundation and transport allowances. Our transport contractors charge is based on distance to be travelled to deliver throughout the centre of the North Island and this is reflected in our price lists for the different regions.

We provide pricing based on your requirements and these other factors before you commit to go ahead.

Can we customise a transportable house plan?

Yes, we welcome your plan alterations as this gives us a new perspective on one of our plans.

We will even start a new plan for you if you have something in mind.

We don’t charge for this as the new plans adds value to the range of products we already have .

What’s included and excluded in transportable homes prices?

The spec sheets on the reverse of each of our house plan brochures detail what is and isn’t included.

We will tailor any package to suit your requirements.

Do we need our own builder or other subcontractors?

When the home is delivered to your site it may be fully finished or partially finished depending on your requirements.

However, you will need to connect power, water and sewage to the home so may need to organise water and septic tanks. You will need registered subcontractors for this work and we maybe able to assist with this depending on your location.

Decks and baseboards will also be required. We will have these drawn for you as part of the Building Consent documents and these are generally able to be built by the client.
